Funding and Financial assistance
There are a number of options available for students who require financial assistance, including:
Part-time tuition fee loans
Employer benefits
- Some employers in both the public and private sector may be willing to consider offering financial assistance to their employees.
Scholarships
ELC Scheme
- Students who are members or ex-members of the UK Armed Forces should note that the University of London has been approved by the Ministry of Defence in support of the Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) Scheme (ELC Provider Reference Number 1284).
- The Scheme provides financial support to eligible Service personnel who wish to enhance their educational or vocational achievements.
- For more information please visit the ELC Administration Service website.
Bursaries
- Some teaching centres also offer bursaries. Please contact your local teaching centre for more information
Private education loans
- You may wish to opt for a private education loan. Typically, the amount available will depend on your course of study, your household income and personal circumstances.
If you know that you will require financial assistance to undertake your programme of study, you should apply for funding as early in advance of your registration date as possible. Scholarship opportunities are limited and are very competitive.
If you are applying for an education loan as a UK resident, you do not need a confirmed place in the programme to apply.
If you are a US citizen or eligible non-citizen, you do not qualify for federal student aid or military education benefits for these programmes due to the online format.
Scholarships for postgraduate study
Scholarships are awarded annually on a merit basis to two EMFSS students who have been accepted for postgraduate study at LSE.
These students MUST have completed one of the EMFSS degrees offered by the University of London Programmes, for which the LSE provides academic direction.
To qualify, students will normally have, or expect to have, a first class honours degree. These scholarships will cover tuition fees only.
To apply, please email the University of London Programmes office at LSE at uolip@lse.ac.uk.
If you are applying to study at LSE and require information about funding your studies, please visit the School's Financial Support Office website.
