The climate crisis and the immense environmental challenges we are facing require urgent action. Creating a Sustainable LSE is one of the key commitments of LSE’s 2030 strategy and our School community has been vocal in its desire for action.
LSE has therefore launched a new Sustainability Strategic Plan to tackle the climate crisis. This plan will make LSE the first UK university to become carbon neutral for all the emissions it currently measures.
Our plan, developed in close collaboration with the LSE community, sets out six key areas of focus on this critical agenda: Education, Research, Engagement and Leadership, Investment, Operations, and Collaboration.

How you can help
The plan’s success will rely on everyone in the LSE community taking action. One significant way to help is to lend philanthropic support so that we can progress a diverse range of sustainability initiatives. By making a donation to the Sustainable LSE Fund, you will help sustainability initiatives with immediate-need funding requirements such as:
- Supporting the implementation of LSE’s Sustainability Strategic Plan
- Seed-funding sustainability research across the School and strengthening the Grantham Research Institute’s role as a School wide vehicle for collaborative research and impact on environmental sustainability
- Assisting projects that embed sustainability across LSE’s teaching and learning experiences.
- Supporting the School’s Sustainable Projects Fund which awards funding to student and staff-led projects that enhance sustainability at LSE.
We hope you will join us in this journey and play a part in shaping a sustainable world by supporting the Sustainable LSE Fund.
