About me

Bumjin’s Ph.D thesis focuses on economic growth and regional inequality of South Korea from early 20th century to the present. His research will try to unveil the long-run trend of regional inequality across South Korean regions in sectoral and regional level and explore the ways to account for it following the rapid economic growth and structural change as the pattern of inequality has shown continuous upward trend which is different from other nations.

Before joining LSE, Bumjin completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea. His postgraduate studies are in economics at the Alfred-Weber-Institute for Economics, Heidelberg University in Germany, and  in urban design and development planning at the Bartlett, University College London. He also worked as a research assistant at the research institute in South Korea and participated in projects focusing on local industries and industrial clusters fostering regional development while reducing the regional inequality across the urban areas in economic and spatial way.
