Sabrina Wimmer is an MPhil/PhD Candidate in Health Policy and Health Economics at the Department of Health Policy, focusing on privatisation in the NHS. Her research investigates the impact of increased private sector provision of care on the healthcare labour market and care delivered in public hospitals in England.
Sabrina holds a medical degree from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and is a surgeon in training. She further has an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and LSE. Previously, she was a research assistant in the Department of Health Policy and Department of Management, contributing to research projects on antimicrobial resistance, health systems review and vaccine innovation. She has an interest in global surgery and is involved with the RCS England-LSE Global Surgery Policy Unit. Through her work with Universities Allied for Essential Medicines (UAEM), Sabrina has experience in access to medicines advocacy and is currently chair of the Europe Association board of Health Action International (HAI). Sabrina has also interned with the World Health Organization and German State Government.
