Dr Philipp Paech, Dr Eva Micheler and Dr Tatiana Cutts of LSE Law (@TatianaCutts) and Professor Nigel Dodd of the LSE Sociology Department (@nigelbdodd) gave a public lecture at LSE on ‘Cash: The future of money in the Bitcoin Age’ this week. The event was hosted by LSE Law and chaired by Dr Jo Braithwaite.
The speakers addressed this highly topical subject from different perspectives. Amongst the many issues covered were the history of money, the role of trust in banking and payment systems and how law and society adapt to technological change. Looking ahead, the speakers debated the continued role of cash in society, the social and political implications of a pluralistic monetary system and areas for future research.
