Dr Joseph Spooner recently gave the keynote presentation at 'Insolvency Live!', the annual conference/stakeholder event run by UK Government agency The Insolvency Service. The lecture presented ideas regarding the public policy benefits of personal insolvency reform, particularly at a time of post-pandemic economic recovery. Dr Spooner offered an overview of the operation of the current personal insolvency system in England and Wales, highlighting issues which could be addressed in order for the law to enhance supports to financially troubled households and support wider economic recovery. The talk offered lessons from other jurisdictions, highlighting potential obstacles and paths forward for law reform.
