We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dame Hilary Mantel, the prizewinning and celebrated author of, among others, the magnificent Wolf Hall trilogy, which documented the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell. Dame Hilary was one of the most distinguished writers of her generation. She brought our history into our modern lives in a remarkable way and will long be an inspiration to students of history and legal history. She was a student at the LSE Law School for her first undergraduate year in the early 1970s and was awarded an LLD, Doctor of Laws, by the Law School in 2014. We were honoured by her connection to the LSE and wish her family all the very best during this very difficult time.
