LSESU Law Society and the LSESU AI Society are proud to announce the publication of AI in Law & The Legal Profession, an industry insights report produced to accompany the 2024 LSE Law Summit, the largest student-run law conference in the UK. The paper is the work of a team of student researchers led by Emma Cooke and Elyse Barg, delving into one of the most direct channels through which AI will affect legal practice: the development and deployment of AI-powered legal technology. This paper adopts an interdisciplinary approach to analysing the current legal tech landscape and future trajectory of legal AI integration across various jurisdictions, highlighting key financial, legal, ethical and political considerations. We hope that our report can serve as a valuable resource for those seeking to understand the complex legal-AI nexus.
