Shingi Masanzu holds an LLB (magna cum laude) and Post-Graduate Diploma (Public Law) from the University of Cape Town, and an LLM (International Legal Studies) from New York University School of Law, where she was a Hauser Global Scholar. Prior to joining LSE, she worked at the World Bank as Senior Counsel in the Legal Department. In this role, she advised on sovereign lending and guarantee operations in sectors ranging from energy and infrastructure, to education, health and governance, with experience in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Before joining the World Bank, Shingi worked at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets.

Shingi’s research examines deal-making by governments in developing countries in the context of infrastructure investment, and how human rights (and particularly economic and social rights) frameworks might be used to re-shape approaches to deal-making in this area.
