Research topic:

The social and labour effects of minimum income schemes in times of Covid and beyond 

I am a doctoral student based at the Department of Social Policy and affiliated to the International Inequalities Institute.  

Before starting my PhD, I worked as a Policy Officer at the European Commission, first working with countries on the design and implementation of labour market, social and education reforms, and later informing the definition of EU research and innovation policy related to the socio-economic and ecological transitions. I have also collaborated with the EBRD on a quantitative research project looking at firm- and industry-level characteristics associated with employment growth and high wages in Latvia and Croatia. Prior to that, I worked at the Bank of England as a Research Assistant, namely looking at the co-movement between unemployment and house prices in the UK. 

I graduated from the LSE with a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Economic and Public Policy in 2019 and from the University of Bath with a BSc in Politics with Economics in 2017.  

My research focuses on the effects of minimum income schemes on economic and social inequality, poverty as well as labour market outcomes. I intend to apply my research to the case study of Spain and use mixed methods both applying quasi-experimental techniques for impact evaluation and conducting in-depth interviews.  

I am interested in how income support schemes (i) affect beneficiaries’ labour supply responses, (ii) impact various socio-demographic groups differently, (iii) interact with other welfare state measures, and (iv) affect the lived experiences of the poor.  

I hold an LSE PhD Studentship on 'Analysing and Challenging Inequalities' from the International Inequalities Institute.
