Labour markets, inequalities and development economics
Natalia is a PhD student who holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from LSE. She also works as an Economic Consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Her research focuses on labour markets and changes in economic sectors in the context of climate change, innovation, and gender inequalities, utilizing quantitative methods. Her first PhD chapter studies how droughts have impacted labour supply across economic sectors, with a focus on labour reallocation and gender inequalities.
Previously, Natalia contributed to Plan International UK on the policy report titled “Understanding Gender-Responsive Child and Youth-Led Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives in Low-Income Countries”. This report was successfully delivered to Plan International offices in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Bolivia. She also worked at the National Productivity Commission in Chile, where she analysed the efficiency of regulatory policy in key economic sectors. Her work contributed to the report “Regulatory Quality in Chile - A Review of Strategic Sectors” which was highlighted in 2023 by the President of Chile as a relevant input for the nation's digitization policy. Natalia also has experience in the Office of Economic Affairs and Institutional Management at the University of Chile, where she assessed the financial impacts of the free tuition policy on undergraduate education.
