About me

I joined the Department of Sociology in September 2023 as Fellow in Quantitative Social Research Methods. I teach the undergraduate core course “Data in Society: Researching Social Life” and the MA course “Quantitative Social Research Methods”.

Prior to joining the department, I was a PhD candidate in Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge, where I taught various research methods courses at the postgraduate level for the Social Science Research Methods Programme (SSRMP) and supervised undergraduate students at the Faculty of Education.

My research focuses on social inequality, social mobility, widening participation in education, and returns to education. My PhD thesis, titled 'Education and Meritocracy in China: The Role of Degrees in the Intergenerational Transmission of Inequality,' explores the relationship between social origins, education, and socioeconomic outcomes, while assessing the potential for education to reduce inequality and foster upward mobility.

I am a member of the ISA Research Committee 28 on Social Stratification and Mobility (RC28) and the British Association for International and Comparative Education (BAICE).
