LSE is delighted to offer up to 12 Academic Director’s Scholarships for Summer School 2024 to exceptional applicants. Our scholarships are geared towards those who have a passion for, or show extraordinary promise in the areas of:
- Sustainability and Development
- Responsible Leadership
- Technology, Media and Society
These scholarships are merit-based, and designed to help students wishing to broaden and enrich their university career with participation in the LSE Summer School. The scholarships aim to help recipients gain a global perspective, achieve academic excellence and develop civic leadership skills.
Through the Academic Director's Scholarship, I have gained a valuable opportunity to study in an environment with students from different academic backgrounds. I have acquired so much knowledge and confidence through Summer School.
Vision:
The scholarships aim to equip students with the skills to engage with some of the critical challenges facing our world today.
The Academic Director’s Scholarships support LSE’s 2030 Vision and will be informed by the 2030 guiding principles, namely to:
- Sustain excellence through an inclusive and diverse community
- Extend our impact and reach
- Ensure a sustainable future
As a Scholar, you will also be expected to act as a Student Ambassador for LSE Summer School. As an ambassador, you will participate in activities to represent the Summer School to future students, and will have the opportunity to enhance your communication, networking and presentation skills.

In reviewing applications, we consider many things, ranging from demonstrated commitment to academic performance to exceptional promise in the applicant’s relevant scholarship field. The application essay offers an opportunity for applicants to develop a compelling narrative about their background and experience, their dedication and accomplishments, and to explain how the LSE Summer School experience, inside and outside the classroom, can help them achieve their longer-term aspirations.
The application process is quite straightforward and even if you don't get the scholarship you still get to write about yourself and really think about what your vision for society is, and that in itself is really valuable.
