About me

Asif Imtiaz is currently a doctoral candidate, pursuing his PhD in Health Policy and Health Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, with an expected completion date in September 2026. Before embarking on his doctoral journey, he earned an MSc in International Health Policy (Health Economics) from LSE. His academic pursuits began with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Economics at the University of Dhaka.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Asif has gained valuable experience in both teaching and research. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also had the privilege of instructing civil servants of the Government of Bangladesh in foundational training courses, covering Fiscal Policy and Monetary Policy. Furthermore, he has been actively engaged in research roles, including a position as a Research Associate at the Center for Project Management and Information Systems (PMIS) in Bangladesh from April 2018 to September 2020. Here, he contributed to various projects, such as the "IT/ITES Industry Statistics of Bangladesh, 2019," the "Fast Track Future Leader Training Programme," and the "Post-Covid-19 ICT Roadmap." Additionally, he had the opportunity to work as an Overseas Consultant at LSE from December 2021 to February 2022, collaborating on a project investigating the incidence of chronic catastrophic healthcare expenditure among Chinese adults. Currently, he is a Research Assistant at LSE Health since July 2023, where he is involved in projects focused on understanding the reasons behind informal healthcare utilization in low- and middle-income countries.

In addition to his academic and teaching roles, Asif hse also ventured into consultancy work. As a Research Consultant for Westminster City Council, United Kingdom, he designed an impact evaluation plan for the Digital Inclusion Programme 2023-24. Asif also served as a Lead Consultant for the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing, where he conducted a study to measure the impact of COVID-19 on the outsourcing industry of Bangladesh. Asif's research interests lie in a variety of health policy and health economics issues, including quality of care, health-seeking behavior, and public health interventions in low- and middle-income countries.
