She suggests that leaders with the biggest nuclear arsenals may not always wield the most power on the global stage – when it comes to conflict between nuclear states, sometimes a country’s strength can also be its disadvantage.

- Rohan Mukherjee's book, Ascending Order: Rising Powers and the Politics of Status in International Institutions has received the 2024 T V Paul Best Book in Global International Relations award from the Global IR section of the International Studies Association (ISA).

- LSE Fellow Dimitrios Stroikos has edited the latest volume of Space Policy, which is out now.
Dimitrios was also featured in the 'Thinking Global' podcast, where he discussed China, India, outer space security, and the militarisation of space.
Dimitrios has co-edited an open access book with Indrajit Roy, Jappe Eckhardt, and Simona Davidescu, Rising Power, Limited Influence: The Politics of Chinese Investments in Europe and the Liberal International Order. The book develops a dynamic framework of the interaction between state-society relations in Europe with state-society relations in China. Read and download it here.
Dimitrios has also contributed to the volume with the chapter “China's engagement with Greece under the BRI: Economics, politics, and international imperatives” and co-authored with the co-editors the conclusion “Conclusion: Chinese power meets European agency: Revisiting the Liberal International Order?”.

- Katerina Dalacoura has published a chapter, ‘Islamism in Republican Turkey’, in Caroline Tee, Philip Dorroll and Fabio Vicini (eds), The Oxford Handbook of Religion in Turkey.
Katerina also gave a lecture on 7 February 2024, ‘The International Thought of Turkish Islamists: History, Civilisation and Nation’, at the School of Government and International Affairs, Durham University.

- Lauren Sukin has accepted a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellowship at MIT for a visiting appointment as a Junior Faculty Fellow during the 2023-2024 academic year.
- Howie Rechavia-Taylor, LSE Fellow, served as Visiting Professor last month to the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. He made a significant contribution by delivering a specialised course on queer politics, 'Queer Anti-Fascism: Transnational Sexual Politics in Authoritarian Times' for graduate students.
- Spyros Economides will be a Visiting Scholar at Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES) at Harvard University from 1 March to 1 June 2024. He will be working on the project ‘Geopolitics, Values and the Re-emergence of “the West”’, which looks at the persistence of the ‘the West’ in international relations and its use in both contemporary academic literature and public commentary.

- Kira Huju, LSE Fellow, has just published her book Cosmopolitan Elites: Indian diplomats and the social hierarchies of global order (OUP, 2023).] which offers a new way of thinking about liberal order and the cosmopolitan elites who maintain it. It explores how caste underpins social relations among Indian diplomats, and influences how India engages in multilateral diplomacy.
