About me

I joined LSE in 2014 and I am currently teaching on non-degree beginner and intermediate courses. I was awarded an Education Excellence Award in 2016 and a Contribution Excellence Award in 2021 at LSE. I am also a Japanese lecturer in a Japanese School for over twenty years and an invigilator for JLPT. I have been teaching Japanese as a foreign language for more than twenty years to students from diverse backgrounds. I have also had extensive experience in dealing with business people, in particular, employees of banks, diplomats and other financial institutions as I worked in financial contexts in the City; as well as regularly contributing to financial articles for Asahi Shimbun (Japanese national newspaper).

I hold a BA in Japanese literature in Japan and a MA in the UK. I have studied Japanese and Chinese classical literature as well. I am always interested in developing innovative teaching and learning.

About the Language Centre

LSE is a centre for the study of the social sciences and this is reflected in its Language Centre.

Our courses focus on language and society, encouraging you to learn how to use language in the contexts you would like to live, study and work in. We teach people to speak languages, but also teach about language (socio-linguistics and intercultural communication) and offer a range of courses on literature and society.

We offer English for Academic Purposes programmes, BSc programmes a range of undergraduate degree courses that can be taken as part of a degree and a range of language options that can be taken outside of a degree programme. All programmes and courses relate language study and support to the fields of interest of social science students.
