Accelerator Impact Stream

100x Research Grants

Current Project:

'Coordinating philanthropic capital: exploring the strengths and weaknesses of a staged investment system for high-impact nonprofit organisations'

Dr Jonathan Roberts
Marshall Institute

100x emulates the successful business accelerator model from the private sector and aspires to show how impact-driven organisations can break the cycle of grant-seeking, through tangible results-driven models like government adoption, digitisation and open-source solutions.

Funding is available to conduct research aimed at deepening our understanding and enhancing the effectiveness of 100x Impact Accelerator itself.

The work of 100x raises a set of research questions about the process of scaling social change and social purpose organisations.

 Examples of topics include:

• The impact of 100x’s activities upon the social ventures within the programme.

• The contribution of 100x to the wider ecosystem of support and capacity-building for impact-first organisations.

• Differences and similarities between accelerating an organisation for social impact and accelerating it for profit.

• Modelling the trajectories to scale of different types of impact-first organisations.

Impact areas

100x recognises that the world is facing unprecedented challenges. We aim to support and accelerate the development of innovative solutions to these issues across our eight impact areas.
