Every undergraduate student is charged a fee each year of their programme.

The tuition fee covers registration and examination fees payable to the School, lectures, classes and individual supervision, lectures given at other colleges under intercollegiate arrangements and, under current arrangements, membership of the Students' Union. It does not cover living costs or travel or fieldwork.

Tuition fees are fixed each Spring for the following academic year only, and are published in the Table of Fees.

Fee status classification

On receipt of your UCAS form the School carries out an assessment of your fee status determining the amount you are likely to pay at Registration. This decision is based on guidelines provided by the Department of Education: Education (Fees and Awards) Regulations 2007.

We estimate that you should allow approximately £1,300 to £1,400 per month for all living expenses, including accommodation, travel, food, laundry, study costs, and other personal expenses. This will vary depending on your lifestyle and requirements, so it's important you do your own research.

Student Finance England

The UK Government provides UK students with loans to support their undergraduate studies. Find out more about UK Government support.

Overseas students, ie, those from outside the UK are not eligible to apply for UK Government funds.However, there is a range of funding available for overseas students from external agencies, bodies or your home government, details of which are available from your home government or nearest British Council office, or on the UK Council for International Student Affairs website.

LSE Bursaries

The LSE Bursary is available for Home fee status LSE students and awarded according to household income. The LSE Discretionary Bursary is awarded based on exceptional financial circumstances. More information about LSE Bursaries.

The LSE Accommodation Bursary is designed to encourage students from lower-income households to apply for accommodation in halls. Available for UK nationals, the value of the award will vary depending on the number of recipients and financial need.

The School provides generous financial support, in the form of bursaries and scholarships to all students. As the terms of the UK’s exit agreement from the EU are finalised, LSE will continue to make funding available to all students regardless of fee status.
