Information for refugees, forced migrants and displaced students

LSE provides support to forced migrants and refugees who are looking to apply for a place on one of our undergraduate or graduate programmes.

Applications for undergraduate programmes for 2024 entry will close on 31 January 2024 on the UCAS system. However, if you are a refugee or forced migrant please do get in touch with us at admissions.forced.migrants@lse.ac.uk to discuss how we might support your application.

Applications for graduate programmes for 2024 entry will open from 9 October 2023. Please take a look at the information on our graduate admissions website for details of how we can support you through the application process or email us at admissions.forced.migrants@lse.ac.uk.

LSE offers a number of scholarships specifically for forced migrant students at undergraduate and graduate level.  The awards vary in value but can provide funds to cover tuition fees, living costs and accommodation for some students. Please check out the links on our website for information on how to apply or email us at financial-support@lse.ac.uk.

For students who are already enrolled with us, we have In-course financial support available for those who are facing unexpected financial difficulties.

If you receive an offer of a place to study with us you will also receive information on how to apply for a place in LSE accommodation. We have a range of accommodation available to suit students at all levels of study and you will receive support and guidance to book the space that is right for you.

The UK Visas and Immigration Service (UKVI) has introduced concessions for Ukrainian nationals applying under temporary, points-based routes. These are similar to the previous concession for Syrian students, and the current Afghan concessions. They allow UKVI to apply discretion to switching, and documentary evidence requirements to applications made on the Student and Child Student routes (and economic migration routes).

They also apply a temporary waiver to the requirement to obtain a TB test when applying overseas on the Student route.

LSESU offers a range of services for our student community. 

Societies

The LSESU societies are groups of students who share a common interest and provide opportunities to meet new people, pick up skills for later life, provide support and community and have fun while you do it. Many of our societies are based on national and cultural interests.

Advice Service

The LSESU Advice Service provides free advice and support to LSE students on a range of academic and housing issues.
