This summer, WPS and student volunteers worked with Katherine Knell MBE and her team at Adam Smith International including Rupert Poole and Elizabeth Stewart to help design a WPS library for Somalia.
The UK government is supporting Somalia in Strengthening the Security Architecture under a Foreign Office-funded programme. The WPS Library supports the strengthening of knowledge and understanding at governmental level. These libraries will serve as the first in the Office of National Security, with the intent to continue this collaboration to enhance the subject matter to include wider security, terrorism and gender dynamics.
WPS related books, manuals and pamphlets were collected and then transported to Mogadishu. The country’s National Security Advisor and Mohamed Salad Ali, personally received the books and e-library and was delighted. We hope to repeat the initiative next summer.
