Antonia is the Founder and Executive Director of Legal Action Worldwide (LAW). She is a British lawyer with 20 years of experience in international, human rights, refugee and criminal law. Mulvey has established access to justice programmes for the UN and INGOs in Sudan, Somalia and the occupied Palestinian territory. Her experience ranges from advising governments on judicial and legislative reform, to founding of the first Women Lawyers Association in Somalia and establishing the first law faculty in Puntland, Somalia. The legal programme that she established in the occupied Palestinian territory stopped the forcible displacement of more than 20,000 Palestinians from their homes.
Mulvey has been quoted in a number of international news outlets including the Guardian, the New York Times, Foreign Policy and Voice of America.
She is completing her PhD in international law at SOAS, University of London. She is a sexual violence expert for UN Women and the Justice Rapid Response Unit and a rule of law expert for UNDP and the U.K. Stabilisation Unit. In 2016 she was appointed by OHCHR to research sexual violence in Myanmar and prepare the first Human Rights Council report on the issue.
Her research at the Centre for Women, Peace and Security focuses on sexual exploitation and abuse by security forces and whether, in certain circumstances, it can constitute international crimes. Focus is placed on using legal arguments to create practical and positive change in the actions of security forces and creating a new dialogue on the issue.
