Lois Moore qualified as an English solicitor in 1981 and practised for many years as a lawyer in Freshfields Brockhaus Derringer and Shearman & Sterling. In 2014 Lois graduated from LSE with an LLM in Human Rights Law. Her dissertation, on the topic of sexual violence in armed conflict, was awarded a rare distinction. In her research, Lois looked in particular at the effect of the definition of rape at the ICTY and ICTR on domestic legislative developments on the definition of rape.
Lois is American but has spent her entire adult life in the UK. She is a member of the London Committee of Human Rights Watch, and sits as a magistrate on the Central London Bench. She is a Governor of the Wellington Primary School in Tower Hamlets.
