Salla Turunen is an international relations and management professional specialised in gender, humanitarianism, and peace, security and conflict affairs. She has worked with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (UN Women) at country, regional, and headquarter levels. This line of work includes women, peace and security expertise in South Sudan and Liberia, strategic gender mainstreaming work in New York and at the UN System level, and donor relations and resource mobilisation in the Nordic countries’ context. As a social science researcher and scholar, Salla holds a publication portfolio of over 30 publications which are directed to academic, policy and practitioner audiences.
