Amir is currently working under the supervision of Dr Kirsten Schulze. His research title is ‘Political Organisation in the Anti-Colonial Movement of Central and Southern Iraq: 1914-1921’. His research examines the history and development of political organisation in the anti-colonial movement against the British in central and southern Iraq between the British entry of Basra during the First World War in 1914 and the crowning of King Feisal I bin al-Hussain in August 1921. This anti-colonial movement spurned by the removal of Ottoman authority by British military power gave birth to the modern Iraqi state and nationalism.
Amir holds an MSc in Empires, Colonialism and Globalisation from the LSE and a BA in Economics and Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
