About me

Ahmed Almansoori is an MPhil/PhD candidate in the Department of International History at LSE. Ahmed holds a BSc in Economics and Public Policy from Duke University (with a minor in Russian), and a MSc in Emerging Economies and International Development from King’s College London.

Provisional Thesis Title

Between Two Worlds: The Middle East and the New Great Game in Central Asia (1991-2001)

Ahmed's research attempts to trace the connected histories of Central Asia and the Middle East in the post-Cold War era. His project will be the first to integrate both Arabic and Russian sources to untangle the nuanced political and socioeconomic interactions between the two regions in contemporary times.

His work is supervised by Professor Vladislav Zubok, Head of the Cold War Studies programme.

Ahmed is passionate about teaching and has actively volunteered to tutor refugee children since 2017.
