The Department of International History welcomes applications for Fellowships funded or part-funded by bodies such as the British Academy, the Leverhulme Trust, the Marie Curie Fellowship scheme and others. However If these posts require match funding from the LSE, this will be subject to current institutional financial capacity - please check with Mr Mathew Betts in the first instance.
If the Fellowship you wish to apply for involves a member of staff in the host department assuming a mentor/supervisor role, please contact an appropriate member of staff directly in the first instance to seek his or her support. Full details of our staff can be found in our People's section.
In securing the support of an individual member of staff, s/he will ask you to provide the necessary information so that s/he may present your application to the Departmental Research Committee; this will usually be your Curriculum Vitae and a Research Proposal. If the Committee supports your application the Department will be happy to host you, subject to School confirmation, as a Fellow in the event of your application being successful with the external body in question.
If the Fellowship you wish to apply for does not involve a member of departmental staff acting in a mentor/supervisor role, please contact Mr Mathew Betts, Research Committee Officer, in the first instance.
British Academy Fellowships:
Please submit your proposal and CV to Mr Mathew Betts email@example.com by the end of the second week of September in the year in which you are applying.
Please submit applications at least three months prior to the intended start date of your Visiting Fellowship, and preferably earlier e.g. 6-12 months prior. The application will be considered by committees at both departmental and School level and this can take some time. You should also submit in good time prior to any deadline for external funding you may be seeking, as you may need to wait for an LSE letter of appointment to be issued; and you should allow time to make any visa arrangements, if applicable, and to find accommodation in London, prior to arrival.
