BSc in Psychological and Behavioural Science

The BSc in Psychological and Behavioural Science provides a distinct social science and policy-orientated approach, alongside advanced training in statistics and research methods. Using the Behavioural Lab’s cutting edge facilities, the programme provides students with exceptional training in research methods, through hands-on experience with research software (e.g., Gorilla, PsychoPy, Qualtrics), experimental hardware (e.g., eye-tracking, EEG/ERP, physiological measures), and qualitative methods, including observational research, interviews and focus groups.

The BSc in Psychological and Behavioural Science is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the United Kingdom. The BPS is responsible for promoting excellence in the ethical practice, education and application of the discipline. Accreditation is highly valued by employers, giving students a route to full BPS membership. Accreditation is therefore based on a rigorous process and among other standards, includes providing students with “knowledge and the acquisition of a range of research skills and methods for investigating experience and behaviour, culminating in an ability to conduct research independently”. For that reason, students the BSc programme complete the following PBS modules in Year 1 and Year 2 respectively:

The BSc in Psychological and Behavioural Science recently ranked number one in the UK for Psychology in the Good University Guide from The Times and Sunday Times.
