About me

Su Su Myat is a visiting PhD student in Geography and Urban studies at LSE, working under the supervision of Prof. Hyun Bang Shin. She is a PhD student at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Lausanne.

Prior to starting her PhD, she worked for more than five years on cities and development in Asia and conducted fieldwork in Central and South Africa.

Her PhD research examines the politics of the everyday state and actors in the context of smart urbanism in Geneva, Switzerland. Her research draws on southern theories, such as anthropology of the everyday state and informality.

Her research interests centre on the decolonising urban studies methods, feminist ethnography, urban infrastructures, environmental governance, comparative urban studies, and digital urban geography.
