Start your time in the department by attending our Welcome Parties.

In December, we celebrate the end of term in style with our G&E Festive Party. It's a fantastic opportunity for students and staff to mingle over drinks and nibbles before the winter break.

Every year the department holds a Photography Showcase, encouraging entries from staff and students based on a chosen theme. Past themes include 'World Textures', 'Blue' and 'Cityscapes'.

Join us for lunchtime sessions with our Geography staff! Running throughout the Autumn and Winter terms, these sessions are a great chance to get to know your lecturers better - plus, there’s pizza!

Come and grab a hot drink and a pastry at our Breakfast Club, held once a week throughout termtime.

We team up with the LSESU to bring you a variety of sporting and wellbeing events on campus. Activities might include pickleball, football, futsal, or stretch-and-mobility sessions. 

We offer all our undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in an international field trip during their second year of study. Past destinations have included USA, Italy, Cuba and India. Find out more.

We love to bring our community together and showcase highlights from our field trips. This event celebrates the hands-on learning and research opportunities that are integral to the field trip experience.

The occasion also honours our undergraduate department prize-winners, recognising their exceptional achievements and contributions. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the academic and experiential highlights that define student life in the department.

We host a range of public events across topics relating to geography and the environment. Unless otherwise stated, our events are free and open to all. 

Our Undergraduate Research Fellowships scheme gives students the opportunity to be paid to provide research assistance for our academic staff. Through this scheme, our undergraduates work on live research projects, many of which are published in leading academic journals.
