Tchérina Jerolon is an international human rights law advocate with over 13 years of experience. She is the former Deputy Director at the Africa Desk of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), where she supervised the operational and strategic actions of the Desk in Sub-Saharan Africa, in particular in East, Southern and Central Africa. In that capacity, Tchérina conducted fact-finding missions in countries where she documented human rights violations, including in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan.
Tchérina also coordinated FIDH’s advocacy actions towards the African Union, focusing on the AU’s mandate over peace and security issues. She coordinated, on behalf of FIDH, the drafting process of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights’ Guidelines on combating sexual violence and its consequences in Africa. She is the author/coordinator of reports, guides, articles, and other materials related to the fight against sexual violence and its consequences in Africa.
Tchérina is currently acting as an independent expert who provides advises to human rights organizations, including on their gender policy and actions related to the fight against sexual and gender-based violence. During her fellowship at LSE, Tchérina will be focusing on international investigations and their impacts on the fight against conflict-related sexual violence.
